What is Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. The event is held
across the globe in more than 26 countries including Australia, Switzerland, Ireland and France. This global
movement started with one man – Dr. Gordon Klatt. In 1985, Dr. Klatt had an idea to support his local
American Cancer Society office in Tacoma, Washington. He spent 24 hours walking the track and invited his
friends and family to join him. At the end of 24 hours, Dr. Klatt raised $27,000.
